Holy Bible, book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine;
Mine, to tell me whence I came;
Mine, to teach me what I am.
Mine, to call me when I rove;
Mine, to show a Saviour’s love;
Mine art thou to guide my feet;
Mine, to judge, condemn, acquit.
Mine, to comfort in distress
If the Holy Spirit bless;
Mine, to show by living faith
Man can triumph over death.
Mine, to tell of joys to come,
And the rebel sinner’s doom;
Holy Bible, book divine,
Precious treasure, thou art mine.

In a nutshell, you have committed plagiarism whenever you use another’s ideas or words without crediting or acknowledging the source. Literary theft. Plagiarize (and plagiarism) comes from the Latin plagiarius “kidnapper.”.
So, are Christians considered guilty of plagiarism when they repeat God’s Word???
God’s Word is trustworthy. When Christians repeat God’s Word either by writing it or speaking it…we are not guilty of plagiarism as He has given us permission to do so. He is pleased that we want to share all that is in His Word with as many people as we can. As we do so, we do it for His Glory! And in His Name! Jesus himself said John 8:31-32 “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” Why? Because Jesus himself is the TRUTH.
God wants us to claim His promises. There are no promises in the Word of God that He has not kept, nor the promises He has yet to fulfil, we can be assured He will keep them too.
Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” As believers we can be sure of our salvation as we know it is based on the promises of our faithful God.
God wants us to obey his commandments…He hasn’t that many, that we shouldn’t as weak human beings, be able to keep. When God gave Moses the 10 commandments, they weren’t just verbal, they were written in stone. They weren’t meant just for Moses’ ears. God wanted everybody to hear and read them and apply them to their lives. Also the commandments that Jesus gave us in John 13:34-35 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” and Mark 12:30-31 “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
We can share with everyone God’s Word because it is the truth and we know God doesn’t lie and when we repeat God’s Word by voice or writing it down you can believe it. Hebrews 4:12 (NIV) says “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” So who wouldn’t want this kind of weapon when dealing with the forces of Satan?
We can’t obey God until we first listen to His Word. God says in Isaiah 55:3 “Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you.” That’s one of those promises I mentioned earlier!
We have been given permission by God to repeat and to declare and to own His Word. So there is no plagiarism here. Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” This one verse helps in keeping one straight and focused.
When we speak God’s Word, in faith, it brings the Holy Spirit into action. In Luke 4, Jesus was tempted by Satan for 40 days, it was the Word of God that Jesus used to defeat the enemy in the time of His temptation. Every time Jesus was tempted by Satan, He quoted from God’s Word when He repeatedly said the phrase, “It is written.” So we too as Christians can avail ourselves of God’s Word by placing it in our hearts, so that the Holy Spirit can bring it forth at the appropriate time we need it. It’s ours! So who wouldn’t want this kind of power in the world we live in today.
Without the Christians, who repeat by writing or speaking God’s Word, how can it be spread and heard throughout the world. And then from there, it is picked up and read by more and it catches on like fire. AMEN! Mark 16:15 “And He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’” Psalms 96:3 “Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples.” That’s the way God intended His Word to be used.
So go ahead “REPEAT< COPY>SPEAK” GOD’S WORD. We all should be filled with love for Him and the blessings of the Spirit that we cannot keep silent. I’m going to continue to copy, repeat and be bold about it to all who will listen. GOD SAID I COULD!
