False Teachers …You Will Know Them By Their Fruit…Part I

Wasn’t no copperhead, wasn’t no cottonmouth

Just a garden snake that brought us all down
It didn’t look deadly didn’t look venomous
Wrapped around that tree so lovely and sensuous

There’s vices and voodoo always enticing you
From the day that you’re born
‘Til the day you leave this world
The devil’s got a line for you
For sure and 10,000 lures

You may think I’m preaching even evangelizing
But what he’s throwing out can be so tantalizing
He’s a master of disguise he’ll reel you in with power
Roaming to and fro seeking whom he may devour

He knows every weakness knows just when to strike
You know he was an angel once and he knows what you like
For you it might be money, for me it might be fame
Better cover up your ears now when he whispers your name

Before I end this song, before the music’s through
Oh, I’d like to share a good word or two
There’s 10,000 angels watching over you
From the day that you’re born
‘Til the day you leave this world
Three rusty nails that’s the cure
For 10,000 lures

This tract is in two parts.  I felt that there was so much to warn people about, to speak boldly and firmly to bring awareness of the falsehoods out there in our society that sway our thinking into believing who God is and what He desires for us.  I prayed that God would give me the right words to say and relying on His Word only, to show, that you too must do your own homework and pray as you read God’s Word that you will know the only Truth there is “JESUS”.

BEWARE of those whose FAITH is based on their own: IDEAS, FEELINGS, and what THEY THINK is right– RATHER than on what GOD’S WORD says!  TRUST in JESUS and in GOD’S unfailing WORD!

22 Attributes of  False Teachers

Read 2 Peter 2:1-19

Peter wants us to focus on God’s word

and not that of the private interpretation of self-appointed teachers

who will raise doubts, cause discord and create havoc.

1.  They infiltrate the church (2:1) 12.  They are ignorant (2:12)
2.  They come in secret (2:1) 13.  They love to deceive others (2:13)
3.  They deny the work of Jesus (2:1) 14.  They are full of adultery (2:14)
4.  They blaspheme the truth (2:2) 15.   They cannot cease from sinning (2:14)
5.  They are greedy (2:3, 14) 16.  They prey on unstable new believers (2:14)
6.  They use words that sound remarkably close to the truth (2:3) 17.  They intentionally speak lies (2:15)
7.  They follow the flesh (2:10) 18.  They are out for monetary gain (2:15)
8.  They are presumptuous and self-willed (2:10) 19.  They talk a lot but say nothing (2:16, 18)
9.  They do not want to be under anyone’s authority (2:10, 11) 20.  They make great promises but never deliver (2:17)
10.  They exhibit peace on the outside but are like untamed beasts on the inside. (2:12) 21.  They use alluring thoughts to provoke attention from their audience (2:18)
11.  They speak more evil then good (2:12) 22.  They make promises they cannot deliver (2:19)

wolf-sheepJesus said you will know them by their fruits in Matthew 7:15, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.  You will know them by their fruits.”  Whenever the true and narrow way is taught, there are always false teachers who disguise themselves as genuine shepherds.  Someday, every person will stand before God in judgement, and the reality of every person’s relationship with Jesus will be revealed.  Without a personal relationship  with Jesus, religious words and religious ways – such as attending church, filling positions of church leadership, and performing good works – have no value.

cult-comicCults can be said to be of the father of lies, cult doctrines, and trying to deceive people to think God’s Word does not mean what it says is Satan. Gen 3:1-7 (read it for yourselves) teaches that Satan manifested himself into another form “the serpent” and proceeded to lure Eve into disobeying God, in eating of the tree of which God said not to eat.  Satan made it seem that if Eve could eat of all the other trees provided, there should be nothing wrong with eating of that “one” tree and if she did her eyes would be opened.  This is a common tactic when tempting humans, they appeal to desires.  But in doing so Eve and Adam’s choice to believe the serpent brought the reality of sin and death to the earth.

In John 8:44, Jesus is trying to tell the Jews who He is.  Some believed Him but others didn’t.  Those who didn’t, Jesus said You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”  The devil’s traits were manifested in their desire to put Jesus to death.  Many of the Pharisees, Herodians, Sadducees, lawyers, and scribes in the days of Jesus were deceived teachers.

In 2 Timothy 2:17-18, we have a cult.  Its purpose was to deceive people and overthrow the faith of some.  “And their message will spread like cancer…who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and they overthrow the faith of some.”  Showing people who follow after opinions and heresy are a mortal threat  to the church.  2 Timothy 3:1-5 speaks of a type of cult that appears godly but is not.  “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come.  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power.  And from such people turn away!”  And some so-called Christian sects can fit this description.

Christianity is not a religion.  Religion is humans trying to work their way to God.  Christianity is God coming to men and women through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”  John 3: 16-17
