False Teachers…Know Them By Their Fruit…Part II

Let me hear Your words
Above all other voices
Above all the distractions in this world
For Your words bring life
And Your voice speaks promises
Lord, Your love offers more
Than anything else in this world

Your words give us life that’s never ending
Your words bring us love that never fails
Everything else will fade away
But what will remain are Your words

Let us speak Your words more than ours, more than ever
Let us share Your love with all the world

The grass will wither and the flowers will fall
But the word of our God will last forever
The grass will wither and the flowers will fall
But the word of our God will last forever

Colossians 1:28  Paul said “Him [Jesus Christ] we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”

Paul’s words courageously preached a life-changing message, that Christ in you, is the hope of glory and this is how every Christian can fulfil the word of God that a faithful life speaks as loudly as faithful words!

gods-warningsFalse doctrine is that which opposes a fundamental truth or that which is necessary for salvation. The following are some examples of false doctrine:

“Saying there is no hell”  The Bible describes hell as a real place of eternal torment, the destination for every unregenerate soul. Revelation 20:15, “And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was (will be) cast into the lake of fire”.  A denial of hell directly contradicts Jesus’ own words and is therefore a false doctrine. When he says in Matthew 25:46, “And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”  it’s saying that hell’s punishment is eternal in the same way that the life is eternal.

false-doctrine-2-edited“The idea that there are “many paths to God.””  This philosophy has become popular recently under the guise of tolerance.  This false doctrine claims that, since God is love, He will accept any religious effort as long as the practitioner is sincere.  Such relativism flies in the face of the entire Bible and effectively eliminates any need for the Son of God to take on flesh and be crucified for us Jeremiah 12:17 is saying that God is serious about having us obey Him, “But if they do not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation.”  God was willing to extend his mercy to absolutely everyone…but because He wasn’t obeyed he had to send His Son Jesus. John 3:16–18, “For God so loved the world  that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him (Jesus) might be saved.”  It also contradicts Jesus’ direct words that He is the only way to God, John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

longsuffering 1“Any teaching that redefines the person of Jesus Christ”  Doctrine that denies the deity of Christ, the virgin birth, His sinless nature, His actual death, or His physical resurrection, is false doctrine.  These are the five fundamentals of a Christian’s beliefs.  Any group that strays from the proper course or standard of the Person and work of Jesus Christ, identifies itself as a sect or cult that may claim to be Christian is actually teaching false doctrine.  Even many mainline denominations have begun the rapid slide into apostasy by declaring that they no longer hold to a literal interpretation of Scripture or the deity of Christ. 1 John 4:1-3 makes it clear that a denial of biblical Christology is “anti-Christ.”  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.”  Jesus described false teachers within the church as “wolves in sheep’s clothing” Matthew 7:15.  2 Peter 2:1-3, But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.”

jesus-nailed-it Grace“Teachings that add human religious works to Christ’s finished work on the cross, as necessary ingredients for salvation”. This teaching may pay lip service to salvation by faith alone but insists that a religious ritual (such as water baptism) leads to salvation. Some groups even legislate hairstyles, clothing options, and food consumption. Romans 11:6 warns against attempts to mix grace with works.  Ephesians 2:8–9 says we are saved by the grace of God, “through faith, and not that of yourselves, it is the gift of God” and nothing we do can add to or take away from it. Galatians 1:6-9 pronounces a curse on anyone who changes the gospel and good news of salvation by grace, which is Jesus Christ.

“The teaching that presents grace as a license to sin”  Sometimes called “easy-believism,” this false doctrine implies that all one must do for right standing with God is to believe the facts about Jesus, pray a prayer at some point, and then resume control of one’s life with the assurance of heaven at the end.  In Matthew 7:21–23, Jesus warned those who adopt this doctrine and practice lawlessness, that they did not know Him at all, because without a personal relationship with Jesus, religious words and religious ways lead to nothing.  2 Corinthians 5:17 states that “those who are “in Christ” become “new creatures.”  That transformation, in response to a believer’s faith in Christ, changes the outward behaviours. To know and love Christ is to obey Him and sin no more.  Luke 6:46, “But why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’, and not do the things which I say?”  To call someone Lord is to acknowledge that person’s authority.  To call someone Lord and then disregard that person’s instructions is to live as a liar and hypocrite.

wolves-1Satan has been confusing and perverting the Word of God since the Garden of Eden. False teachers, the servants of Satan, try to appear as “servants of righteousness”, but they will be known by their fruits. A charlatan promoting false doctrine will show signs of pride, greed, and rebellion and much more.

Thank you for persevering with me in these two lengthy tracts.  I know it’s a lot to take in, but it needs to be told, and not just  by my interpretation but, by every pastor, minister, teacher of the church who loves Jesus with all their hearts.

Don’t allow yourselves to be deceived!!!

Bottom Line:- If Jesus isn’t the core and centre of any church or group that calls themselves followers of the faith — think again —

Jesus Is The Way, The Truth, The Life!
