In my father’s house are many mansions
If it were not true he would have told me so
He has gone away to live in that bright city
He’s preparing me a mansion there I know
Jesus died upon the cross to bear my sorrow
Freely died that souls like you might have new life
But I know that soon there’ll come a bright tomorrow
When the world will all be free from sin and strife
Do not shun the Saviours love, from up in glory
Or you won’t be there to sing the gospel story
In my father’s house are many mansions
If you’re true then to this land you’ll surely go

What Can We Expect In Heaven?
First of all Heaven won’t be somewhere in the clouds. It will be right here on earth…a new earth. Revelation 21:1, “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea.” Void of evil and corruption. When John says there will be no more sea, he is saying there will be nothing to harm or cause God’s people fear: no chaos, death or evil. Everything will be created new. There will be the absence of sin – Sin has been paid for by Jesus Christ and Satan will be banished. The tears caused by the pain, death, persecution and other hardships God’s people have suffered on this earth will be wiped away. Revelation 21:4, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Wouldn’t you like to spend eternity in a place like this?
Heaven will be indescribably beautiful. We think our earth has beauty with the mountains, fields and streams and lakes and birds and forests. The way John describes what it will be like is beyond description, as he ways with pearly gates and gold streets and 12 layers of colours blended together…awesome! Revelation 21:18-21, “The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase the eleventh jacinth and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of city was pure gold, like transparent glass.” Whoa…where are my sunglasses. Heaven will be gigantic. Nearly 4x’s the size of America’s largest state Alaska. Big enough for every redeemed person from every part of the world throughout history. Revelation 21:16-17, “The city is laid out as a square; its length is as great as its breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand furlongs. Its length, breadth and height are equal. Then he measured its wall: one hundred and forty-four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is of an angel.” So in layman’s terms each dimension is approximately 1,500 miles, making the base 2.25 million square miles. The ground floor alone would provide enough living space for more people than have ever lived in the history of the world. Wouldn’t you like to spend eternity in a place like this?
Heaven will be a Godly City. No churches or places of worship will be needed for the Lord God and the Lamb are its temple. Revelation 21:22-23, “But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moo to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.” The glory of God lights it. The gates to the city will always be open. Every nation can come and go freely without fear or attack. The gates around the city is seen to be as like a glittering diamond bracelet (Revelation 21:18). Not like a wall or gate to keep people out but to kind of outline the city limits. It’s main characteristic is it’s holiness…God’s holiness. It will be a holy city. Heaven will be a City of Life. A river of life flows from God’s throne: watering trees that bear food for those who will live there. And there will be fulfilling work for everyone to do, that fits all individuals. For we know God has given us each unique talents to be used for His Kingdom. And we will rule with Jesus over the new creation. Revelation 22:5, “There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.” The new creation will be a restored Garden of Eden. Paradise regained! The original order will be restored with the redeemed to rule over it with Christ Jesus. Sometimes heaven is referred to as a country and we think of its vastness. Sometimes heaven is referred to as a city, and we think of the people who live there. Sometimes heaven is called a kingdom and we think of its orderliness. Sometimes heaven is called Paradise, and we imagine its beauty. But when we call heaven the Father’s house, we think of the intimacy and the permanence of being there with Him. The most important feature of it is that Father God and our Lord Jesus will be there, forever! Wouldn’t you like to spend eternity in a place like this?

|Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:1-4,6|
