Jesus loves me! This I know, for the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong; they are weak, but He is strong.
Jesus loves me, He who died, Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin, Let his little child come in.
Jesus Loves me! He will stay, close beside me all the way;
If I love Him when I die, He will take me home on high.
Anna Bartlett Warner (11817-1915)
Everybody’s heard the little song “Jesus loves me”. Maybe you used to go to Sunday school and sung it there. It’s a little song that never goes out of your mind. Yet the words still ring true now, even after you’ve stopped going to Sunday school and no matter how old you are.
LOVE is one of the most important words given to us. Jesus said, “As the Father hath loved me so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 15:9-10 And one of the most important commandments given to us from Jesus is to “Love one another, as I have loved you.” John 15:12
“Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
This is how we know what LOVE is: “Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down out lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:16-18
The apostle Paul from the Bible called himself the chief of sinners and he wrote that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
But the miracle is that God’s LOVE is so remarkable he can bring any dead soul back to life. The love of Jesus Christ should compel us to love each other. We need to learn to ask the Lord to refine and purify our motives. He knows the thoughts and intents of the heart, and He can enable us to do the right things, in the right ways, for the right reasons.
Whether we are living or dying, whether weak or strong, whether rich or poor, whether famous or obscure, we can always rest in this truth: “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so”.
Jesus said “Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39
Have you asked Jesus into your heart…
Have you asked Him to forgive your sins…
Have you asked Him to be your Saviour for all eternity…
it’s as simple as that…He is waiting to hear from you…His LOVE is overflowing, for you. Just ask. Take the next step in a new direction. You’ll be glad you did.
Don’t assume that God’s dismissed you from His mind, Don’t assume that God’s forgotten to be kind; For no matter what you do, His love still follows you; Don’t think that you have left Him far behind.
For His love remains the same, He knows you by your name, Don’t think because you failed Him He despairs;For He gives to those who ask His grace for every task,God plans for you in love for He still cares.
