New Year…New You?

Look what you’ve doneHow could you fall so farYou should be ashamed of yourselfSo I was ashamed of myself
The lies I believedThey got some roots that run deepI let ’em take a hold of my lifeI let ’em take control of my life
Standing in Your presence, LordI can feel You diggin’ all the roots upI feel Ya healin’ all my wounds upAll I can say is hallelujah
Look what You’ve doneLook what You’ve done in meYou spoke Your truth into the lies I let my heart believeLook at me nowLook how You made me newThe enemy did everything that he could doOh, but look what You’ve done
Suddenly all the shame is goneI thought I was too broken, now I seeYou were breaking new ground inside of me
On the cross, in a graveWith a stone, rolled awayAll my debt, it was paidLook what You’ve done
In my heart, in my mindIn my soul, in my lifeWith my hands lifted highI’m singing
“Look What You’ve Done” by Tasha Layton,
contemporary Christian singer/songwriter

Is your life like looking out a dirty rear window?
Dusty, murky, grey.

Maybe, you feel like a gnarly weed is choking the life out of you?
Stunting your growth or what you could be in life.

Do you have bad habits you would like to break
They have ruined your personal life, your work life, your relationships with friends, your relationships with family.

You don’t have to be stuck like that.  Your yesterdays don’t have to define your tomorrows!

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived—the things God has prepared for those who love him” 1 Corinthians 2:9.

Every year God gives us grace.  We need to set our minds towards achieving the dreams and goals that have captured our hearts.  Our destiny is laid out by the Lord’s design and purpose.  There are no coincidences for 2023 for those who love God—only divine interventions.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11

There’s an adventure waiting for those who draw near to God.  He can amaze us this year with His infinite capacity of giving grace, strength, and wisdom when we seek after Him.  The more we know His word and walk in His guidelines, the greater the overwhelming wonder, admiration and respect of His presence and power in our lives.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

We can’t go back in time and make better decisions from last year, but we can go forward and make better decisions starting now.  We can allow ourselves to be stretched in our faith and explore new and deeper depths of God.  He makes us new people in Christ as we know Him better through quiet times of prayer and meditation.  Don’t look back…you’re not going that way.

“I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10b

The good news is that an abundant life is exactly what Jesus promised, a reason He came to Earth.  We could give Him a try.

It isn’t easy street.  It takes a bit of discipline, a bit of Bible reading, a bit of prayer and a whole lot of walking with Jesus, every day.  Find the right kind of friends to help you.  They are out there.

First step is saying this little prayer and asking Jesus to come into your heart.  He’s waiting to hear from you.

Second Step

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”  Proverbs 3:5-6
