Precious Promises

You hear me when I call
You are my morning song
Though darkness fills the night
It cannot hide the light
Whom shall I fear
You crush the enemy
Underneath my feet
You are my sword and shield
Though troubles linger still
Whom shall I fear
I know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
The one who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The God of angel armies
Is always by my side
My strength is in your name
For you alone can save
You will deliver me
Yours is the victory
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
And nothing formed against me shall stand
You hold the whole world in your hands
I’m holding on to your promises
You are faithful
You are faithful

We’ve all made promises to someone or about something at sometime in our lives.

As kids we make “pinky promises”, to signify that a promise has been made.

As a young couple in love we make promises to love, honour and cherish when we get married.

A promise is an assurance that one will definitely do,
give, or arrange something; to undertake or declare that something will happen.

To be faithful to another.

Cowboys have their faithful steeds

Police officers have their faithful K9’s like Shep

But there is One who is more faithful to all of us, than any of the above could ever be.  His promises are sure.  There are many, many promises from God in the Bible, too many for me to delve into here.

God’s number is “7” so I’ll give you “7” you might find interesting;
and “plus 1” for good measure.

HE Knows Your Name!

Isaiah 43:1b, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

Jeremiah 1:5a, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born.”

His promise is: He will never forget who you are.

HE Promises To Provide You With All You Need!

Philippians 4:19, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 6:31-34, Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or, ‘What shall we drink?’ or, What shall we wear?’  For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

HE Promises  To Give Us The Best of Life!

Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil.”

John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law”

God has given mankind the earth to live in. He has provided air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, a climate we can survive in.  He has provided the materials to make buildings and machinery.  He has provided us with knowledge.  He has provided all the beauty to enjoy – mountains, lakes, oceans; trees and flowers and animals and birds. He has provided us with eyes to see, ears to hear, noses to smell, tongues to taste with. He has given us hearts to love Him and each other.

HE Promises Us Rest And Peace!

Proverbs 1:33, “But whoever listens to Me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil.”

Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Jesus is telling us not to be worried so much.  It doesn’t mean that all of life’s circumstances will be great, but that when we trust Him, His peace comes over us as followers of Him and helps us endure the trials and difficulties.

HE Promises To Be With Us Always.

Isaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.”

Psalm 23:4a,  “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me.”

Hebrews 13:5,  “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have.  For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Deuteronomy 31:8,  “And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you.  He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

John 14:16-17,  And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”

Water, fire, and valleys are life’s obstacles, things we encounter in this world.  God is saying that we don’t have to go through anything by ourselves, He promises to be right there with us.  He also has given us a Helper, the Holy Spirit who will guide and teach us, and who sticks with us like a second skin.  And knowing this brings assurance and calms the fears.  We just have to call on Him.

HE Promises To Answer Prayer.

James 1:5-6,  “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.”

Mark 11:24 “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

Matthew 21:22,  “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

John 15:7,  “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

John 14:13-14“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”

The common thread is belonging to God.  You are His and you know it.  Knowing who Jesus is, that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life…when you ask in His name, He is the only way to God the Father, for the answers you are looking for.

HE Promises Salvation Through His Son, Jesus.

John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son in to the world to condemn he world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Acts 4:12,  “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

2 Corinthians 12:9a,  “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness”.”

God is providing us deliverance from sin and spiritual death through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.  God promises us an amazing life eternally, when we, earnestly and sincerely, come to know Him through His Son Jesus.  This is why Jesus died on the cross and rose again, so that we might live.  God is faithful to fulfil His promise.  He will never deny life to anyone who dies in His name, but those who do deny God will be denied eternal life.

HE Promises To Come Again.

John 14:1-4,  “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.  In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.  And where I go you know, and the way you know.”

Matthew 24:44 “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Matthew 25:13,  “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

Revelation 1:7a,  “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him.”

Revelation 22:12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.”

Revelation 22:20“He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.”  Amen.  Even so, come Lord Jesus.”

Jesus said He is coming; and we as His followers say COME!

Romans 13:11

“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.”

For those of you who are searching for the promises that God showers on us…won’t you come to Him and accept Him as your Saviour…He’s just waiting for you to ask…perhaps saying this little prayer will get you on your way…Know that He loves you so much.
