Who Am I?…

When I think of how He came so far from glory
Came to dwell among the lowly such as I
To suffer shame and such disgrace on Mount Calvary
Take my place, then I ask myself this question, “Who am I?”
Who am I that the King would bleed and die for?
Who am I that He would pray not my will, Thy Lord?
The answer I may never know, why He ever loved me so
But to an old rugged cross He’d go for Who am I?
When I’m reminded of His words, I’ll leave Him never
If you’ll be true I’ll give you life forever
Oh, I wonder what I could have done to deserve God’s only Son
To fight my battles until they’re won for Who am I?
Who am I that the King would bleed and die for?
Who am I that He would pray not my will, Thy Lord?
The answer I may never know, why He ever loved me so
But to an old rugged cross He’d go for Who am I?
But to an old rugged cross He’d go for Who am I?

Who Are You?

Do you seriously think God can’t use you?’

a drunkDo you drink too much, are you an alcoholic……Noah was a drunk.  God used him to build an ark and save his family and two of every creature on the earth, that they would not perish in the great flood.  Why, because Noah was a man of God and believed and obeyed everything God said and that obedience saved him and he found grace.  Genesis 6:8-22

abraham 2Are you up in years thinking you’re on your last legs……Abraham was very very old.  God tested him to sacrifice his son which he waited so long for.  He obeyed God and believed that whatever God wanted him to do he would.  God saw how far Abraham was going to go with his son and knew Abraham’s faith and saved his son by providing a lamb for the sacrifice.  Genesis 22:1-19

liarDo you decieve people for your own gain……Jacob was a liar.  He stole his brother Esau’s birthright by pretending to be who he was not and deceiving his father into giving him the birthright.  Even so, God had plans for Jacob and came to him in dreams and Jacob vowed fidelity to the Lord.  Genesis 27-28

abuseHave you been abused or sexually abused……Joseph was abused.  Joseph was taken by his brothers and beaten and left for dead.  He was rescued and sold into slavery.  He was unjustly imprisoned.  But through all this Joseph remained faithful and righteous to God….and God was with Joseph, showed him mercy, gave him favour and made whatever Joseph did to prosper.  Genesis 37-39

prostAre you a prostitute……..Rahab was a prostitute.   God used Rahab to save Joshua and his men.  Although she told a lie and albeit lying is a sin, God forgave her and commended her for the faith she showed in hiding Joshua’s spies, before the destruction of Jericho and sparing her life.  Her story shows that God, in his grace, reaches out to those with sordid pasts and no history of Him.  Joshua 2-6

Elijah was suicidal.  Isaiah preached naked.  Jonah ran from God.  Naomi was a widow.  Job went bankrupt.  Peter denied Christ.  Martha worried about everything.  The Samaritan woman was divorced.  Zaccheus was too small.  Paul was too religious.  Lazarus was dead.  Dare I go on?  And we, today, are not so different of those in by-gone days.

Shame is so powerful it can drive you to believe that not only are you unworthy of being loved but that you have no control over your own life.  That no matter what you do or how hard you try nothing will ever change.  I used to think myself as worthless…why was I here, why was I put on this earth…what was my purpose.  The key words here are “used to think”…now I know why…I am a somebody by Jesus’ love.

You aren’t worthless like they made you feel.  You aren’t so broken you could never heal.  You aren’t stupid like they made you think.  You are stronger than you believe.  You are smarter than you think.  You are a somebody…God knows you are a somebody….He made you.  God spent a long time crafting you and God doesn’t make worthless things.  That’s Who You Are!

You are worth dying for and Jesus did just that…so whatever your walk of life is…God has a purpose for you and can make you the best you’ve ever been.  Psalm 103:1-4 “Bless the Lord, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name!  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits;  Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies.”  Jesus died for you as certainly as if you were the only one ever lost.

Forgive yourself…HE’S GOT THIS!!!
