The Best Is Yet To Come!

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by
You know how I feel
It’s a new dawn It’s a new day It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good
Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom on a tree
You know how I feel
It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day, It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun, you know what I mean, don’t you know
Butterflies all havin’ fun, you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done, that’s what I mean
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Oh, freedom is mine, and I know how I feel
It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day, It’s a new life
“Feeling Good”:  Songwriters: Leslie Bricusse / Anthony Newley

My song choice may not be a hymn, or a worship song, but it entails all the wonderful feelings that God will bestow on us when we enter the new world He has prepared for those who love Him.  As I said, “THE BEST IS YET TO COME”.

At the end of my last post I mentioned there was more to come in Revelation.  Our God is not a God who would just leave those who love Him hanging in oblivion.  The heavy cloud of judgment is lifted and the people of God will see a most beautiful city.

Our eternal home with God.  John was given a glimpse of the great city, Revelation 21, v 11, “…having the glory of God.  Her light was like a most precious stone like a jasper stone, clear as crystal”.

“The city is laid out as a square…the construction of its walls was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass.  The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned  with all kinds of precious stones,..jasper…sapphire…chalcedony…emerald…sardonyx…sardius…chrysolite…chrysoprase…beryl…topaz…amethyst.  The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each individual gate was one pearl.  And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.”  Verses 16-21.

Wow!  what a sight that will be.

Revelation 21, introduces us to all things “new”, which the Father has prepared for those who love Him.  The old things have passed away and all things are made new.  The place is the New Jerusalem.

The entire city will be a holy temple where God the Father and Jesus the Lamb will dwell and those who live there will be priests who serve God.  “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.  There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:4

Unfortunately there is a sad conclusion where some will be denied.  In verse 8 there is a list of the kinds of people who will not be allowed into the city.  “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”, and in verse 27 it says, But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”, will enter the city of God.  And it will be too late to try to enter when the gates are open for the first time.  You must have a reservation long before that day.

How do I make a reservation?

This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”  1 John 1:5-10

“Come now,let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”  Isaiah 1:18 ESV  (English Standard Version)

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”  Psalm 51:7 ESV

Will you live in the city of God forever and revel in the beauty, purity, and glory of a place lit up by the presence of God?  If you have not done so already, be sure to make your reservation.  “Now is the day of salvation!”.  2 Corinthians 6:2b

Jesus is calling.  Calling you to be with Him.  We have a prayer that simplifies all that is to be done.  When you say this prayer and commit yourself to living a life with Jesus in your heart, have faith and trust in God, your reservation has been made.   You will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Regardless of what happens in this life, no matter how depressing the world news or how difficult or dark the season we might be enduring, life in Christ has a happy ending!
