Simple rule and safest guiding, inward peace and inward light.
Star upon our path abiding; Trust in God and do the right.
Courage, brother, do not stumble, though thy path be dark as night;
There’s a star to guide the humble; Trust in God and do the right.
Norman Macleod (1812-1872)
Do you even have a goal? Where are you going? What are you doing with your life?
So many questions yet the answer is simple…We were mean’t for God. We were created by Him, and for Him, and until we find ourselves in Him, we are still short of our journey.
Jesus said: “I am the way the truth and the life: no man cometh to the Father but by me.” John 14:6 and Jesus said: “…I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
Solomon was the wisest man on earth, yet the most foolish. He applied his God-given wisdom to the pursuit of the meaning of life. He explored every avenue seeking satisfaction. He tried education, money, public works, fame, creative writing and religion, but nothing satisfied. After a lifelong search, he finally discovered that “Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13
“You will show me the path of life: in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11
When you ask for directions, is someone telling you to go down the road 3 blocks turn right at the church, then continue 4 more blocks and turn left? How confusing! Isn’t it better when someone says let me take you there? That is what Jesus does…He takes you. He takes all the doubt from your mind…“For so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 1:11
God judges a man not by the point he has reached but by the way he is facing; not by distance but by direction.
You don’t need to be unsure as to which direction you need to be going. Or what goals you aspire to achieve. No more detours, dead ends, road blocks or blind alleys.
Take Jesus’ hand and he will direct your feet and show you how to find the light at the end of the tunnel, or help you out of the box you find yourself in and help you choose the road to Faith instead of Doubt.
Just ask Him: “Jesus come into my heart. I repent (changing your mind’s direction) of my sins. Lead me and I will follow. I am trusting you to direct my ways. In Your name I pray, Amen.”
The light of truth to us display that we may know and choose thy way; plant holy fear in every heart, that we from God may ne’er depart.
Lead us to holiness, the road that we must take to dwell with God; lead us to God, our final rest, To be with him for ever blessed.
Simon Browne (1680-1732)
