What If It Is The TRUTH?

I lay my life down at Your feet
Cause You’re the only one I need
I turn to You and You are always there
In troubled times it’s You I seek
I put You first that’s all I need
I humble all I am all to You

One way —  Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for
One Way — Jesus
You’re the only one that I could live for

You are always, always there
Every how and everywhere
Your grace abounds so deeply within me
You will never ever change
Yesterday today the same
Forever till forever meets no end

You are the Way the Truth and the Life
We live by faith and not by sight for You
We’re living all for You

by Hillsong United – “One Way”

When we as Christians say there is only one way to God the Father, and heaven, and it’s only through Jesus Christ, we are considered to be intolerant and narrow-minded…but…what if it is the truth!

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

the way fork-in-the-roadFact #1:      “I am the way…”

Jesus is the only way to God.  Jesus is the only way to heaven.  Not by your good works and nice personalities, or your compliance to the world we live in, are we on the right way.

Psalm 1:6  “For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”  Meaning that the righteous carves his name on the rock, which will endure, but the wicked his remembrance in the wind, which disappears.  The righteous plows and sows the earth and reaps a harvest…but the wicked plows the sea and the waves just roll over it.

Hebrews 10:20 “…by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh…”  Jesus shed his blood once and for all, providing the way to eternal fellowship with the Father for all who will put their trust in Him.

truth ChristFact #2:      “…the truth…”

Jesus is the truth.  The Word of God is our truth, and when it became flesh, that being Jesus, people were able to see it and know it first hand.  We, today, know the truth when we read God’s Word and by faith, having not seen Jesus in the flesh, still know He is the only truth; and not what others want you to accept.

John 8:31, 36  “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.  32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  36Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”

This is one of the most quoted statements “the truth shall set you free” but the truth referred to is not speaking the truth in general, but knowing the Truth personally who is Jesus the Son of God.  Only He can set you free. When Jesus was before Pilate John 18:37-38, Jesus said, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth.  Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”  Pilate said “What is truth?”  It’s ironic that Pilate’s answer to that question was standing right in front of him.

The Bible is all truth.  God’s truth, handed down to men who were faithful to Him and who He entrusted to recount the history of man and what God wanted for man.  It’s not a book of fairy tales and fiction…it all happened.  And the recounting of Jesus’ life, from the day he was born to the day he died and rose again is all truth.

life_in_ChristFact #3:     “…the life…”

John 1:4  “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”  Who is “Him”…it’s Jesus.

John 11:25  Jesus told Martha, Lazarus’ sister “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.”  Jesus had power over sickness and death…and still does.  When He comes again, we who believe will be caught up with Him in the clouds to be with Him forever.  His forgiveness and our acceptance of Him as our Saviour gives us life everlasting in the next world.

John 10:10  “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and have it more abundantly.”  Jesus is speaking as the Good Shepherd to His sheep…we are His sheep and He is offering us life here and now and always.

Luke 24 speaks of Jesus’ resurrection. From the time He was buried in the tomb, to the stone being rolled away, to Him speaking before hand to his disciples, “7The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.”  When the stone was rolled away it wasn’t because Jesus needed help getting out, it was for others to see in that what he said was the truth, that the tomb was empty, which is what the Christian’s gospel rests solely on — this fact as truth.

Jesus died on the cross, but in 3 days he rose, alive…He LivesHe is life.  When you accept Jesus as your saviour, asking Him into your heart, to follow Him for the rest of our days here on this earth, that is life, life everlasting, eternal life with Him on the next earth.  The old earth will be destroyed and remade by God after the years of tribulation, when He brings us back with Him to reign on earth for a thousand years.  Oh what a day that will be!!

mediatorFact #4:  no one comes to the Father except through me.”

Jesus is the only way to God!

Acts 4:12  “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

1 Timothy 2:5  “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all.”  Only someone who was both man and God could represent God to humanity and reconcile humanity to God.  The cross is the site of the most important transaction in history.   Jesus is our only go-between.  Don’t accept Him as truth, don’t expect to see heaven or eternal life.

Jesus is God’s message to us.

Jesus is THE TRUTH!
