A civil war ended in 2005, but it claimed the lives of two million people. But now a continuing conflict has driven two million more from their homes and killed over 200,000.
In Sudan, Christians too face poverty, war and genocide. The government is trying to eliminate all Christian villages, churches, hospitals and schools in an effort to Islamize the country. There is already a steady process of ethnic cleansing underway in several areas of South Sudan using starvation, gang rape and the burning of villages. Several reports indicate that South Sudan is on the brink of a catastrophe and is being warned of a repeat of the Rwandan genocide.
- Pray for God’s divine intervention, to bring a complete halt to the destruction of lives and homes of the people of South Sudan.
- Pray also that peace, justice and religious freedom may be firmly established.
- Pray that Christians throughout Sudan will continue to entrust themselves to Christ and preach the gospel boldly, knowing Jesus is the ruler over the kings of the earth (2 Timothy 1:7-12, Revelation 1:5).
