So you thought you had to keep this up
All the work that you do
So we think that you’re good
And you can’t believe it’s not enough
All the walls you built up
Are just glass on the outside
So let ’em fall down
There’s freedom waiting in the sound
When you let your walls fall to the ground
We’re here now
This is where the healing begins, oh
This is where the healing starts
When you come to where you’re broken within
The light meets the dark
The light meets the dark
Afraid to let your secrets out
Everything that you hide
Can come crashing through the door now
But too scared to face all your fear
So you hide but you find
That the shame won’t disappear
Sparks will fly as grace collides
With the dark inside of us
So please don’t fight
This coming light
Let this blood come cover us
His blood can cover us
“Healing Begins” by Tenth Avenue North, a contemporary Christian rock band
So…you’re feeling poorly, sickly
Is it your body….or your soul?
People everywhere are seeking understanding about something. What’s true about the world and themselves. A search for Truth. Recently there was an assignation in the United States of a young man named Charlie Kirk. He was a Truth seeker and was someone who wanted people to understand that Truth and one of his sayings was ‘prove me wrong’. There were many who tried, but Charlie, in a lot of cases, gave people another view, another answer, to their questions they might not have thought of. The brutal attack was followed by hatred. Extremism that has festered for some time suddenly exploded into violence for the entire world to see as Charlie Kirk—a Christian, father, husband, and standard-bearer for Biblical values—was assassinated.
Sometimes if your soul is sick, then so is your body. It becomes an obstacle to growth and development, especially when we think we know all we need to know. Being uninformed or self-righteous, could be you are being deceived, and you don’t know that you are being deceived. Jesus was very insistent when he said in Mark 2:17, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.” In other words Jesus explained that healthy people have no need of a physician, but a sick person does. And people who are sinners and need spiritual help are the most in need of a different kind of physician.
In today’s society, it’s up-side-down where evil is perceived as good and good is perceived as evil. It sometimes looks like evil is winning out. But I must tell you that evil has already been conquered by the Truth that is Jesus Christ. Paul tells us in Romans 3:23-24, “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” The phrase emphasizes that sin is a universal human condition, regardless of a person’s background or moral standing. Through God’s grace and the redemption found in Jesus Christ, people can be made righteous. No one is exempt from sin, it’s a statement of universal human brokenness. We are all the same but how we choose to live our life changes everything when we ask Jesus into our hearts and ask for forgiveness and start to heal our broken spirits, which in turn will heal our souls and bodies.
Evil is no longer moving in the shadows. Our world is in trouble and the only answer is Jesus Christ. Even in the midst of the sorrow and animosity following Charlie’s murder, we’re seeing God at work. Young people are now asking the right questions and they are creating a revival. We are all a work in progress and God is moving through us. PRAY for courage for believers facing spiritual opposition in the last days.
There is a strong link between spiritual health and physical health in the Bible. Many of the Psalms and Proverbs connect the state of the mind and soul with the state of the body. Proverbs 17:22 states, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” We all need healing in some way or another. Healing only God can give. Whatever we are facing be it physical or mental, emotional, or spiritual, seeking God’s help can be an all-important step. Jeremiah 3:22 tells us, “My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” Proverbs 3:5-8, tells us “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.”
Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”, because true self-care, for both your body and soul, has eternal significance when aligned with God’s purposes. God promises in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Whatever is going on around you, frightening headlines, life setbacks, adversity, when your world seems to be coming apart, remember God is in control. God loves you and is not far from you. There is nowhere you can go that He isn’t there, even before you get there. If you have questions, it is good to ask and search for the truth. Before you look further find peace with God.
If you don’t know Jesus personally, and you would like to have a relationship with Him, get started by saying this little prayer and asking Him to come into your heart. Jesus and the Holy Spirit will take it from there. First step is peace and then growth and understanding will come.
In 3 John 1:2, John’s wishes and my wishes,
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
You are so loved!
