“I Speak Jesus” by Charity Gayle, worship leader

We meet people everyday.  We probably meet the same people everyday.

We think we know them…but we really don’t know them.

Actually knowing someone requires personal and private knowledge that we acquire from being with someone over time.  Over time we develop trust with that person that allows you in to their world and them into yours. Knowing about someone is just the first step toward actually knowing them.

It is the same way with God.  God has gone to great lengths to make Himself known to us. He does this through nature, personal spiritual relationships, but most importantly by the revelation of Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ.  He has provided us with a book with everything He wants us to know and inscribe on our hearts, that we can read over and over again, the Bible.

So here we are, wanting to get to know Jesus.  We’ve all heard about Him but we want to know Him personally.  Throughout the Bible Jesus has given us several statements as to who He is and why He is and that He is all for you.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.  Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”   John 15:1-5 ESV (English Standard Version)

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:12 ESV

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”  John 1:5 ESV

“…for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.”  Ephesians 5:8-10 ESV

“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.”  John 6:35 ESV

“For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”  John 6:40 ESV

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”  John 6:51 ESV

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures.  He leads me beside still waters.  He restores my soul.  He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23 ESV

“Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.  I am the door, if anyone enters by Me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.”  John 10:7, 9 ESV

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”  John 10:11 ESV

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”  Psalm 18:2 ESV

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  John 14:6 ESV

“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”  Acts 4:12 ESV

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16 ESV

“I am the resurrection and the life.  Whoever believes in Me, though he die, yet shall he live.” John 11:25 ESV

“…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”  Romans 10:9 ESV

“When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory?   O death, where is your sting?”  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  1 Corinthians 15:54-57 ESV

There is so much more to know about Jesus and He will show you every day if you choose to follow Him.  If you would like to welcome Jesus into your heart and life, just say this little prayer with an open heart, inviting Him in.  Once He is there He will never leave you, nor forsake you.  When you need Him, by the whisper of His name, Jesus, He will be there.
