Christ is my firm foundation
The Rock on which I stand
When everything around me is shaking
I’ve never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
‘Cause He’s never let me down
He’s faithful through generations
So why would He fail now?
He won’t
He won’t
I’ve still got joy in chaos
I’ve got peace that makes no sense
So I won’t be going under
I’m not held by my own strength
‘Cause I build my life on Jesus
He’s never let me down
He’s faithful in еvery season
So why would He fail now?

A sinkhole is a depression or hole in the ground caused by some form of collapse of the surface layer. When there is nothing substantial beneath your feet, the ground could open and swallow you up.
Another euphemism could describe a human sink hole likened to dark, alluring forces, physical or emotional traps. Outside you look solid but underneath we are in turmoil and the conditions are susceptible to collapse.
In Psalms 40:2, David talks about being trapped in a spiritual and moral sinkhole. He referred to the sinkhole as a miry bog. You can’t fall in a sinkhole without getting dirty. But God lifted him and placed David’s feet on solid ground.
“He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.”
We are given words of assurance that if we “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” And we also know that Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.” And Jesus came so that we might have an abundant life in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” All of which goes to show that with God and Jesus in your life, those sink holes haven’t got a chance of pulling you in. No matter what we face God’s Word can bring us through.
To prevent a sink hole, let your inside be reflected on the outside.
Are you frenzied, are you a workaholic, what kinds of distractions send your mind in all kinds of directions. The more busy you are the happier Satan is with you. Because you are not putting your spiritual thoughts on God.
God on the other hand says when your spirit breaks down then so does your body. 1 Timothy 4:7-8 tells us, “But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.” Just like physical exercise strengthens the body, so does spiritual discipline strengthen the soul.
This is where solitude and prayer come to help. Psalm 46:10a, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Isaiah 26:3 tells us, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” We need to be aware of God’s presence.
The journey to your inward life is found in the Bible only. The renewing of your mind such as Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Like getting a blood transfusion.
Hearing the word of God is one thing, but when you welcome it into your heart, it brings the truth and stirs your belief. We start to get excited about hearing it. We appreciate it more because it comes from God — it’s supernatural. It teaches you to be aware of where you walk to avoid any sink holes you might step into. If you feel a rumble beneath your feet and you think the earth will swallow you up, remember 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” Don’t get enamoured with the way of the world so much so that you miss the escape that God has provided for you. See that crack forming below your feet…jump over it!
So when you finally realize God’s will for you and you believe it, share it with others. Pass it on. Help others be the discerner of their own hearts and look to Jesus. As Jesus told the parable of building on the Rock in Matthew 7: 24-27, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” It ended up in that sink hole we’ve been talking about.
If you are unsure of the path you are on and whether or not there are any sink holes in your future, and you want to know more about Jesus and ask him to be your Saviour and have a relationship with Him, just offer this prayer of salvation to Him,
The road ahead will not be void of sink holes, but with Jesus you can navigate your journey better and be more surefooted both inside and out.
You are so loved!
