He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted.
Isaiah 61 : 1
There were appoximately 700 years before Jesus was born when Isaiah penned these words. These are Jesus’ words, long before He was born. Isaiah was a prophet who God gave the words to proclaim both His majesty and His coming kingdom.
Again in Isaiah 7:14 it is stated, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”
Not just in Isaiah but others such as Micah 5:2, says “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.” Another telling us of the birth of Jesus from years before He actually came to earth as a baby.
Again in Isaiah 53 he tells us of a Suffering Servant, a Man of Sorrows. He speaks of Jesus and His ministry and what He came to do and it depicts the affliction and wounds that Jesus would bear on our behalf when He went to the cross.
We as a human race have broken hearts. We all want them to be healed. We want peace and comfort and joy. When Jesus was born in the stable the first people who were notified were lowly shepherds. They were despised by others and classified as the lowest of the low on the humanity scale. So why them first, because it shows us that Jesus came for each one of us. We are not the high and mighty, we are the lowly.
Jesus came to be a bridge between heaven and earth, between us and God the Father. To get from one side to the other, whether it is two pieces of land with water in between we need a bridge. Jesus told us that in John 14:6: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”, He is our bridge.
And because He is our bridge, our sins hold us back from crossing. Jesus came to die for us. We should be the ones to die for our wrongdoings, but He wanted to take away that agony from us so He carried our sins to the cross and shed His blood for us. Jesus came to heal our hearts from pain and suffering that sin brings. Jesus said in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” He came to heal the brokenhearted.
If you feel down today, remember why Jesus came, why He lived like us, to know all that we feel and experience, why He wanted to give us joy, peace, a life full, and a life with Him in eternity. Heal your broken hearts with Jesus. He will give you peace as Phillipians 4:6-7 tells us, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Jesus is the ultimate Heart Healer, if you don’t know Him but would like to have a relationship with Him, just say this little prayer and ask Him into your heart. Seek to know Him through God’s Word and discover the way to make your heart whole. He loves you like nobody else.
Jesus came for Your heart!
What is Your heart’s response?
